Yorktown Pawn

The short I'd skip this place The reason why: My boy wanted to check out a Flying V, and I was browsing pistols, specifically looking to see if they had any H&Ks. I figured we could take our time and look around like you usually can at a pawn shop. He had an earbud in and wasn’t even plugged into an amp, he was just quietly playing through his warmup. Totally normal when you're considering buying a guitar. He played for less than two minutes before the guy said "are you good.... well you played it." The guy was standoffish and made us feel like we were being watched, like we were doing something wrong just by being there. I’ve been to plenty of pawn shops, and this was the first time I felt uncomfortable just looking around. Not the kind of place I’d return to.

I stopped in June 5 just to browse around. I like stopping into pawn shops from time to time, you never know what hidden gems you might find. Unfortunately, this visit left a bad taste in my mouth. The woman working there seemed fine, but the man was standoffish and came off as downright rude. I got the impression he didn’t trust us being there, even though we were just quietly looking around. I didn’t touch a single item, yet it felt like we were being watched like hawks as if we were doing something wrong just by walking in. I’ve been to plenty of pawn shops, and this is the first time I’ve felt so unwelcome. If your goal is to make potential customers feel uncomfortable for merely browsing, mission accomplished. Only reason for two stars is the selection was good.
