Six years ago I rated OTS five stars. Now in June 2025 I’m lowering my rating. I had held a membership for two years, used to go every other week on Wednesdays, then after 2020 it was my go-to range for the occasional visit to escape the heat. Most recently however I took someone with me and had a very different experience. One would think after six years of attendance things would go smoother, but nope, was forced to dump every mag on the counter I brought in. Never had to do that on any other visit, the tops were always checked and that was that. I know it’s brass-case only. I’ve been going for six years. Of course, I expressed my concern at the time which resulted in complete apathy from the individual behind the counter. Brass-case only as a rule is only for range profit by the way, and no other reason. Steel and aluminum casing makes recycling brass harder. Steel-core bullets being prohibited makes sense due to risk of spark and fire. Checking out was a bizarre experience, as the individual at the register seemed more concerned with griping about his job to someone else than getting us helped out. It’s customer service dude, we know it can suck, we’ve all been there, keep it in until later. RSOs were great though, super helpful and not breathing down your neck all day. OTS’ only differentiator now is their programmable targets for drills and practice, but if you just want to get in and shoot, there are other places out there - It’s Florida, there’s a gun range on every block.
from google"unable to shoot 5.56 unsuppressed on weekends" I've never had a problem shooting here in the past, but now every time I come there are new restrictions. Tired of wasting trips out here because of inconsistent staff and stupid policies.
